I have just purchased a nice 2005 R3 with a sidecar rig. The bike and sidecar are fine. However I started reading some posts here and some talk about issues with the 2005 model. Especially transmission issues. My transmission seems to be fine. At least I think it is. I get a weird vibration at some rpms and if I shift up or down it goes away immediately. It seems like I simply do not know how to run this beast of a bike properly.
Should I worry about the transmission on my bike or should I simply continue riding it and deal with real issues when they come about?

That vibe may be attributed to unevenly synced throttle bodies , relatively easy fix, more so if OEM air piping has been given the heaveho

I did not elaborate on the vibration I mentioned. In fact I hear an engine, or transmission, noise like clack clak. If I **** up, or even down, it stops and I hear nothing but the smooth sound of a perfectly running engine and transmission.
If I were to venture a guess, I was in the wrong gear or that the engine is out of sync and some pistons work more than others.
One last question" On the left handlebar, there are 3 buttons that seem to be related to the pistons. The have an on/off position. What in the world are these buttons used for?

Here are the buttons I was talking about.

I have just talked to the previous owner and I mentioned the noises I hear at times and he assured me that the transmission is absolutely fine. He said that it was probably the fuel injectors and maybe the throttle bodies that are out of sync. Come to think of it, what he said makes perfect sense.
One last thing he mentioned: He said that if I had transmission issues, I would see metal debris being trapped in the oil filter. He told me that if I needed peace of mind, I could simply drain the bike and take a closer look at that filter. He said that he took to his bike dealer some weeks ago when the riding season started and they went over everything and they found nothing wrong with the bike or the sidecar.
Is this the end of it?

I have had my 05 from new, just bought another 05, would buy another one if needed
