2008 Rocket III Touring
Hi folks, I have just returned to the Triumph flock after several years on a Harley. So I bought myself a 2008 R3 Touring with 28,000m on it. I have always wrenched on my own bikes, but I know each has their own little 'issues'. So what do I need to be looking out for? Rode the beast last night for the first time and the torque reminded me of my Moto Guzzi days back in the late 70's. The only think I have noticed so far is teh clutch seems to chatter a little bit when released in neutral / idle and I can hear 1 tappet but again, it is very slight.
Thanks in advance.

Welcome back. The clutch chatter sounds pretty normal, as long as it's not excessive. Hearing one tappet means you're not hearing the others so could mean you need to check your valve clearances. Just see if/how it changes over time.
70s Guzzis must have been torque monsters!

Thanks for the welcome. Yes, the 70's Guzzi's were interesting as no-one knew what a balance shaft was yet! You could torque steer all day!
And once I get a bad riding day I'll take a look at the tappet adjustments. (Bad riding days are few and far between here in Nevada)
I should download the manual I guess. Are the adjustable or shimmed?
Thanks again for the welcome!

@TOMCAT - I had a 1979? Spada Royall - I forget who did the fairings but I rode it from England to the Factory in Italy for a show and tell. Had a nice tour of the factory and museum. Drank a lot of wine as well as far as I can remember.

Hey Bob - welcome from Sunny (well, today not so much) South Florida I think you'll enjoy your time here.

Do you get downtown much? My oldest son works down there.

@ksquared - Thanks for the welcome - I try and keep away from the tourist traps - too many looky loo's in their rentals driving around not watching the road. I'm actually out in Henderson so I can escape to the desert in 15 minutes :)

Oh, another question. What Octane gas do you guys use? I see it says it will run on the cheap stuff?
