What octane gas?

there are several threads on this board regarding this issue. again everyone has an opinion.

Mine is to use what the manual calls for. My 06 calls for 89 (R+M)/2 mid-grade but since the new manuals call for 87 Regular, I've been using Regular with no problems. This is a low-compression engine and unless you've made extensive modifications, Premium is a waste and may actually make your bike run worse. Today's EFI systems are so precise that you need to run the grade that the tune calls for.
 
When the bike was stock standard, regular would work fine; after tuning /pipes/triple filters, it runs aweful on regular,spluttery when cruising like it's gonna die on me, but it's perfect on mid price premium fuel. I can't tell any difference on super tho, so I just run premium.
