what are symptoms of output shaft bearing failing

I had this happen several years ago and the sound was like there was something 'scraping' against metal - I even stopped to see if I had gotten something caught between the wheel and frame. I didn't have any noticeable vibration though. My R3 is an 2006 Classic - I thought this problem was solved on models later that 2007; worth letting the dealer take a look to see if it's something Triumph will cover.

My 08 started a rumbling noise last year with 16000 miles on it. out of warranty. it would growl and rumble when giving it throttle or when letting off the throttle. The dealer in San Antonio said it was the output bearing. They had the bike for 4 months in this process. Triumph agreed to cover the cost as a good will gesture. Part of the delay was explained as Triumph taking forever to handle this type of problem. part of it was the dealer being covered with shop work as it was spring and they had a huge backlog of shop work. four months later I got my bike back with a new upgraded output shaft and bearing and a new driveshaft as they said the ujoint was notchy. I had to pay 350 dollars for the driveshaft since triumph doesn't sell u joints seperately. All in all I was relieved that that was all I had to pay

Mine went out a little while after I got it.
6 weeks I think it was.
Anyway the Triumph dealer in Oklahoma City had mine for around 6 months,
waiting for parts from an obscure little island somewhere.....
Mines an '07 model standard.
Mine reminded me of a brake show dragging inside a hub...
Same sound...

2nd gear jumping into neutral was mine, but a mate had his break down on the roadside, something in the gearbox or shaft disintegrated.

Mine only has noise on decel, vibration I can feel in the shock, and the noise changes on cornering

I can hear like a howling or growling noise in upper gears on decel, 1600 down to about 1200 rpm and feel a vibration in the boards and left rear shock. If I give it throttle or pull in on the clutch, it all goes away.

Lets see , my doctor tells me not to fixate on the past , but i remember a loss of power coming out of a long low sweeping turn in to a switch back , followed by a loud metallic clang closely followed with the squealing of rubber and smoke. On the side of the road the engine was still running with the clutch pulled in. let the clutch out once and what a sound , locals still say their children cry at night.
