Waste?

Harley throws away dumpsters full of parts everyday. Fully painted fenders and fuel tanks, frames, powertrains, lots of wheels and tires. If a fully painted fuel tank gets a half inch scratch during assembly that is not repairable, it gets scrapped. They don't strip and repaint. If a wheel gets a gouge during mounting, they throw it away. Everything gets crushed and compacted so it can't be used or resold. I have seen thousands of parts with only small cosmetic defects that I would have no problem putting on my bike, thrown away. Then when we need a part have to go to the dealer and pay full price. And really Ford and GM, and triumph too, probably do the same thing.
