Brian passed away on Thursday after a long fight with cancer I don't know his age I would guess mid 80's. He is a legend in motorcycle racing and engineering. Was Australian sidecar Champion in the 70's built and raced Tranzac sidecars, Tranzac frames for enthusiasts who wanted better handling out of their Honda 4's and Kwaka 9's and performance exhausts for thousands of motorcycles in the 70's and 80's. In his retirement he built a Morgan replica and raced it in sidecar events at lakeside. I was lucky enough to see him race at Bathurst in 1982 and to have owned a few Tranzac exhausts. The pipe I run on my Rocket is a Tranzac but was built buy a mate who brought Tranzac off Payney when he retired.

Donny mentioned Payney was crook just the other day... Got a set of Tranzac pipes under the house , was going to put them on the Speedy. Passed the test of time , just like the man ..RIP.

Always sad to lose the good old school fellows. My thoughts go out to his family!

Payney comes from a time with old British bikes when you had to build everything yourself and if you couldn't get it to do what you wanted you re-engineered it to make it do what you wanted. That's the way he was when I met him in the 80's and he was still tinkering in his shed with various projects until recently.
