Up shift misses gear

Just today I took the old girl out for a ride and almost every time I shift up from 1st, it will skip and go into neutral. I have to shift again, and sometimes again to get it to go into gear. It happens going into 2, 3, and 4 sometimes. I checked the clutch cable, there's no difference in pull or play since I last rode it. The shifter mechanism appears normal... nothing lose or obviously broken.
Other than this shifting issue, I'm not experiencing anything else.
I did just do the oil change. I checked everything there as well. Nothing obvious.

Any ideas ? I'm just asking because I don't really have the big money for major repairs.

Could be the shift return spring or the indent spring, both pretty easy fixes.

Would that be something a non mechanic like myself could do ? Or would a trip to the dealer be better ?

I had some problems with upshifting with mine from 1st - second so i took it into the dealer and it turned out to be something they refered to as the gear actuator which was internal.
Was covered under warrenty and now it shifts smooth as .
Not sure exactly what this part is but it sure runs sweet since it was replaced
