It appears that the issue on my bike is the Crankshaft Position Sensor. Same thing? It's been a bear to identify and fix the problem.

It's been in the shop two weeks now. And another dealer had it before that (didn't fix it, though).

Smell the frustration?.

(Insert "certain" dealers here.)
While I am chasing a problem right now, the Rocket has been great.. I have 62K miles on mine and never had a mechanical issue. I've replaced a throttle position sensor.. and I believe the problem I am having now is the primary throttle position sensor again.. but overall, it is a great bike and I've ridden all over the country on mine with no worries.

Hi Keno and welcome
I have a 09 standard that i bought new..no problems whatsoever :)
But i always keep her hooked up to the life support machine..you need to look
after the battery and she'll be just fine

'08, 17,000+ miles ... Water pump dripped a little when new (replaced) and ignition switch failed second year.

Had the valve cover gasket fail due to dummies not replacing it at 10k service.

Thought I had an oil seepage but after adding the dye to trace down the leak ... it has not returned.

Over all I can't complain about the bike, but I can complain about the dealer competency. I'm always disappointed when I expect the tech working on it to know more than I do, makes me wonder why I bother to let anyone else touch it ... EVER. lol

I just had the clutch actuator rod fail on my 09R3T. Had to adjust the clutch last week because it would not fully disingage. Could not find neutral with engine running. A few days later the clutch failed at a red light in traffic. Bike has 8400 miles and this is the first problem. Service manage at shop said they have changed several and that the part was upgraded by Triumph sometime during the 09 model year. This is my 3rd Triumph since 97 and the first mechanical breakdown.

05, 83000 miles, idle problems at 50k fixed by dealer installing recall idle tune, oil tank oil seals crapped out at 65k as did the ignition switch, both were a fairly easy fix. At 80k had starting problems that were fixed by cleaning and greasing the battery terminals, the fuses, and installing a new starter relay. Since 06 have always kept the battery on a battery tender, that has worked wonders to keep the bike starting and running smoothly. My current battery is 5 years old and still as strong as new. It has by far been the most reliable bike I have owned, then again, it is the only bike I have put more than 30k on before selling.

I think it is important for Rocket owners to pay attention i.e. frequent this and other forums, and learn from others problems so you can prevent them, or when you do have a problem you can troubleshoot it quickly and maybe keep yourself from being stranded. A quick hotwire would have kept many from being stranded had they known right away it was the ignition switch. Actually I think there was an a post recently where someone got out of trouble by doing exactly that.

The "paint can rattle" has been frequently pointed to as an indication of oncoming failure. However, I have had this rattle off and on for nearly the entire time I have had the bike....it seems to be on in cold weather, off in warm weather. There have been times the rattle has been so bad I was certain the engine was about to crap out. But it just keeps plugging away and now it is starting and running better than ever.

The Rocket is my main source of transportation. I have a Suburban that only gets taken out when there is a large load to carry, it is raining hard, it is hot as hell, or I want to smoke a cigar while traveling. Some times I will choose the suburban when I just don't feel like paying the sort of attention that is required to ride a motorcycle safely, especially the Rocket, but that is rare.

05 with 22000 miles, dealer replaced tps while it was there for service, ignition switch lost a screw and fell apart, no charge,
clutch switch failed at 16k, 120 dollars,
Overall no major problems, no more or less than any other brand, very happy so far
1 to 10 i give it a 9:)
