Actually, I think the base and bulb are separate pieces as the base contains the control relay for the flashing, which is why the listing states it comes with an extra bulb.

I could be wrong though.

I was looking over on newr3.com and ran into these,

if I am reading this right, all it is is a bulb right? No tinkering with stock wiring, anyone have one of these?
My valk has something like this, but it was installed when I purchased my bike and I am pretty sure there is more to it than just a bulb.

Actually it comes with two bulbs, a spare is included. It plugs directly into the socket where the original light goes and flashes when you apply the brakes. The bulb fits into the metal unit you see under the bulb.

I've had one for 2yrs now, work well and still got the spare bulb, except for some dicks who tell me my taillight is not working properly " it's flashing mate" They live amongst us.

Which means they are noticing it, which was your point in installing the flasher. Looks like it works as intended.
