unseaonably warm chicago weather so i decided to mount my vidcam to the windshield of my rocket 3 roadster and take alittle drive.
ive been wanting to test out the mount for the cycle to see if it would hold but i also reinforced it with some bungee cord just in case the mount wanted to come loose on the highway.

couldnt get too crazy, couldnt get the tires warm enough.

What brand of camera and mount are you using ?
 

You mate if you put some holes in the road they would be nearly as bad as ours in Aus

sony handycam, dont have the model number in front of me, but its an HD 64gig internal HDD. also using a slight wide angle lens.
all the mounts ive used are abt the same.
 
Thanks for the info, i tried a jvc everio but it did not handle the vibration and the hard drive went crazy on me, jumping and kipping.
Was thinking about an sd card camera but the one you are using looks like it can take the abuse

seems pretty durable. i cant remember if ive used it offroading or not.
b4 this one i had a sony cam that recorded onto mini dvd disks. that was durable too.
as far as cars and bikes go, its fine.
the mount has an arm that i was able to have the camera kinda sit on the speedo gauges to help keep it a little steadier. used a rag wedged under the cam between the gauges so nothing scratched.
the trick with using cams is you try to have the cam in such a way that when its mounted its siting or braced on something to help keep it steady.
i like a little shake in there, gives the viewer a sense of what we see and feel, but too much shake is hard to watch.
 
when you have time if you can post a pic and model of the camera, would love to see it and buy one
 
Hey Mex I have a camera designed for this purpose . It has a mount for the bike or your helmet and you don't get all of that vibration and camera wobble . It is high def and comes in a protective case . Outside of the case the camera isn't much bigger than a matchbox. I highly recommend . It's the called the "GOPRO hero " google it and have a look I'll post a vid in the coming weeks .

I was wondering if your handlebars were Triumph or aftermarket I have an 11 R3 and would like to get ones like yours. What year is yours?

Hi Rod my Rocket is a 09 Standard
The handle bars are not triumph though they are HIGHWAY HAWK superfat customs
Not sure if they have a website or not i would imagine they would.

I purchased mine from metric cruiser customs in brissy but i dont think he is running anymore. he was a highway hawk and kurayakin dealer.

the bars are great i highly recomend them very comfy and i also have my wiring routed internaly through them . Flip from flip meisters in the add on the top right corner of this page made the handle bar clamps i just had to give him the bar OD as they are fatter than standard.
And also i got longer brakelines to suit the bars so im running duel Hel lines now.
The standard ones will reach but they will rub on your tank at full lock and they look crap. I think the whole settup with bars lines clamps and iso grips was a little over $700 from memory maybe a little more.
