TICK prevention.

I leave my hondas in the winter without problem, they are in battery charger, fuel stabilizer and start right away every couple of months... I bring the rocket back to Florida every time and keep the pampering here..
Was there ever a ticking issue upon storage starts with the first R3’s ?

Valve click usually happens on cars/bikes with hydraulic lifters when the motor is stopped there is a valved that is open so that spring tension is pushing on the push rod which is pushing on the lifter which eventually collapse the lifter and ticks till it gets pumped up.
Tick on a rocket (it don't have lifters it has overhead cam which opens the valves.)
Bought with 6000 mile and had the tick in morning one valve with a bit to much clearance. The tick went away when it warmed up
And eventually went away all together.

Hydraulic lifters almost never need to be adjusted
Cam to valve need adjustment once and a while

Had a push-rod break in half and a lifter pop out of the hole on my 69 dodge town and country wagon with the 440. Longer anecdote with intermittently rotating rotor, frost plug woes, bent push-rods, and other twists and turns...waiting for the campfire to tell it around. :) I had over 200,000 miles on that wagon and, yes, you could hear the valve train for the first 10-12 seconds. On the new dodge hellcats, it takes 3 minutes or so before everything warms enough to reduce the noise to the normal background level. Another good anecdote here with the dealer thinking there was a problem as well, changed a bunch of things including the supercharger, still there.. Turned out to be normal due to the sheer size of the engine parts, operating temperatures, and thermal expansion design requirements. The ex-spouse took the hellcat when she left.

I bet not very many guys on here get rid of two hellcats in one day

Curious. did the car come stock with that? I had one with a 318, a dog motor.👇

Yes, it came with the 440 / 4 barrel. Looked exactly like this. I could put a 4X8 sheet of plywood in the back and shut the gate. I bought it in BC and drove it across the upper states to Ontario. 20 ft airstream in back and 5 kids in the car:). 2 breakdowns and several modifications along the way. I've had a crazy life. The old age home folk will never believe all my stories.
