Riding around while its just above freezing. The dry salt on the roads really highlights just how much oil is in the middle lane. In the summer you see puddles and its mostly from people running air conditioning but in the winter you know thats not the case. Something I'll remember when it rains in the nicer months.
I didn't think I'd really use the heated grips very much since all my other bikes never had them but man do they come in handy. I hate having bulky gloves on, now I can let the grips run at full heat and wear real thin gloves.
I figured out the new gloves I bought yesterday aren't the best. The ones I have are made of material that can stretch which is nice for not bunching up the palm and being able to feel everything but its not so great when your giving it the juice. I'll have to find some thin gloves with stiffer material.
Another observation, I road around for about a half hr to my dads and forgot to turn my brake free light on. On the way home I made sure it was on and there was a noticeable difference. People definitely stay back further with it on.
I'm pretty amazed at how warm leather is. I don't have the insert for my jacket so it has a thin lining that you would use in the summer and its still just fine at keeping the cold away. I tried using my hunting jacket insert with it but I just felt like a marshmellow man with it on lol.
I really wish the roads in my state (MI) were nicer but now that I switched to the mid position controls at least I can stand on the pegs when I need to. What a huge difference that makes all in its self. I've took some pretty hard hits when I had forward controls right up my back.
Thats all for now I suppose.
