Riding around while its just above freezing. The dry salt on the roads really highlights just how much oil is in the middle lane. In the summer you see puddles and its mostly from people running air conditioning but in the winter you know thats not the case. Something I'll remember when it rains in the nicer months.

I didn't think I'd really use the heated grips very much since all my other bikes never had them but man do they come in handy. I hate having bulky gloves on, now I can let the grips run at full heat and wear real thin gloves.

I figured out the new gloves I bought yesterday aren't the best. The ones I have are made of material that can stretch which is nice for not bunching up the palm and being able to feel everything but its not so great when your giving it the juice. I'll have to find some thin gloves with stiffer material.

Another observation, I road around for about a half hr to my dads and forgot to turn my brake free light on. On the way home I made sure it was on and there was a noticeable difference. People definitely stay back further with it on.

I'm pretty amazed at how warm leather is. I don't have the insert for my jacket so it has a thin lining that you would use in the summer and its still just fine at keeping the cold away. I tried using my hunting jacket insert with it but I just felt like a marshmellow man with it on lol.

I really wish the roads in my state (MI) were nicer but now that I switched to the mid position controls at least I can stand on the pegs when I need to. What a huge difference that makes all in its self. I've took some pretty hard hits when I had forward controls right up my back.

Thats all for now I suppose.

Totally agree about being able to stand. I have forward GT controls, but made mid and standard position rests. It's nice in the summer going slow through a town with a big shield like I have. You can get some air and cool off standing up. Also the mid pegs seem to bring less air up your leg into your chest and face, which is nicer in the cold

I noticed too with forwards the wind would start trying to push my feet off the pegs at about 90. I dont know it its the type of rubber on my shoes but the oegs just dont seen real grippy in that position. Pretty smart to make you own pegs in the mid position. Would be nice if someone made a kit for that

Yeah, I looked around first because I figured somebody must make something, but no luck. Once I'm up to speed and through the gears on the highway, my feet go back to the mid rests

I’m in the U.K., but I’m the same when it comes to gloves, can’t stand thick gloves when I’m riding! So I use truckers roping gloves, they have a leather draw string across the back, to stop them being pulled off. The only other gloves I’ve got are large workshop gloves I put over the top if it’s wet.
Never found my feet sliding off my pegs at speed, mind you I’ve found running boards help!
