2007 Rocket III Classic
Riding home from work, stopped at a light, there was another bike stopped behind me. After a few seconds I heard it pop into gear and he pulled up along side me. It was a guy riding a a Super Glide (I think). He said how much he liked Triumphs (no not an X... sorry) and asked if was this years' model (a testament to how clean I keep it ) He seemed shocked when I said it was an '07. He asked what size engine. The look on his face was priceless when I told him it was 2300cc.

At the next stop sign he asked if I was out for a ride and if I wanted to join him. I needed to get home so had to decline.

It just goes to show. So, all you haters, not all HD riders are A'holes.

I've never had a HD pass me by if I've been stopped on the of the road, even when I was just changing some gear. They always stop to check all is OK, as indeed i always do. Don't believe anyone thinks they're all arseholes; just a high proportion of wankers.

The majority of my Harley buddies are in awe. One of my friends (who rides an Electra Glide)'s son bought a new Harley last year. He showed it to me at Bike time. I said nice bike. His reply shocked me. He said "well it's no Rocket". Can't remember what model he bought, I think it was a soft bob glide. At any rate I' sure he paid more for it than a Rocket cost. I think a lot of people look at a Rocket and figure it must cost a lot of money.

. As a former and future HD owner, I resemble that remark...

Must be the area I live...
Kinda interesting really, couple of the HD guys I used to ride with aren't nearly as eager to go with me on a ride as they used too, and whenever I do come across random HD guys, they generally look the other way. Guess I don't belong to the 'club' anymore, at least not theirs. One of the guys I work with is like that. He bought his first HD in 08 and considers anything else to be inferior; which is funny since he used to constantly talk bad about HDs. Now he has the pirate HD earings, bandanas, etc... Every now and then I have to remind him how much slower his bike is... Just for fun. Oh, and he barely has 12k miles on his bike which to me should be cause for revokation of his man card.

I had almost $45k in my old bike and it sounded, looked and rode incredibly well but couldn't touch the performance of the R3... and it could smoke most any other HD bagger out there.
And though I miss it, I love my R3. It gets plenty of attention as well, though mostly from a different crowd.

I live in a town full of SOA wannabes most of whom won't give a Triumph a 2nd glance.

Had one exception awhile back though, I was having a cold one at a local bar when I heard the familiar sound of a Harley pulling up out front. An old guy comes in and sits next to me and asked about my Triumph out front and mentioned how nice it was. And how he rode Triumphs in the old days. I thanked him, bought him a beer and talked bikes for awhile.

It wasn't until I got up to leave that I noticed the H.A. Patch on the back of his jacket.

Maybe it was Sonny Barger
