\\\STRIPES/// Says hello from Texas

RAA IV is Rockets Across America IV.. Where a bunch of us get together.. Here's the latest information on it so far.. Link Removed

We're also in preliminary planning stages of a Rockets Across Texas/America meet in the Hill Country sometime this year..

Here's a picture from last year.. RAA III..

Welcome to the site. I'm originally from up SH 121 from you in Bonham. There's also another guy from Frisco (r3bob) that's close to you.

RAA IV is Rockets Across America IV that is scheduled for May 8-11 in Maggie Valley, NC. There's a thread on this. About 25 Captains have committed including several from the TX and OK area. Come join us!

Actually it is VERY BAD for you to go to Rockets Across America because it will cost you more money above and beyond the actual trip.

You see, you will be around 25-30 other Rockets each set up with all kinds of different accessories that you've only seen in pictures and you get to hear many different exhaust system configurations. You will also get to see a bunch of "darks siders" all handling the twisties with no problems at all, seeing how the contact patch hardly ever leaves the road no matter what lean angle..

Then, when you get home, you'll be trying to figure a way to get that $1,000 Jardine system after really hearing it, or.. how about a set of Predators? Decisions, decisions. Then you start to wonder "Maybe I should try a car tire too!" Or.. Those dang Avons cost a little more, but **** they look good!.. (They handle very well too!)

The good part is you get to meet up with a bunch of people from this forum and find out how great everyone is to be around!

Hey, just because your probably going to "no show" don't try to discourage the new guys! Besides, a retired military guy can surely afford all those things!!!

Stripes, Hope to see you there, you'll have a blast!

I was just chatting with my buddy, James... saying, Hey.. if we didn't have wives and kids, when you retire next year, we could just hit bike rallies all year long! Not have to worry about nothing, I still would maintain a small residence, but the bike's paid for.. and I have no bills.. But, dang.. we're married.. lol I also have an aspiring pro soccer player (son just picked up for ODP.. Olympic Development) an aspiring barrel racer, with four too many horses.. lol and a wonderful wife who also rides a Triumph when she gets a chance..

Sorry for my ignorance, but what is RAA 4?
it is the forth annual Rockets Across America rendezvous: (RAAIV). xhdSkippy is working up a very nice commemorative pin. I'm asking for an advance order.

Not familiar with the "Ride Like a Pro technique" but always open for improvement in riding skills.
It's a very informative and practical exercise video.

Welcome Captain Stripes. don't you know feel conflicted? Welcome to the site. No, Ride Like a Pro doesn't instruct how to best humiliate the so-called kings. :bch:

Thanks to all for the greetings. Have I said lately how much I love my Rocket?!?!? MB (my wife) has brought it to my attention how often I say that. Guess I need to add a "you too babe" whenever she is in ear shot.

I'm in for RAAIV. Probably will be alone. MB will probably have divorced me from neglect. Nah, she loves the Rocket too.

Looking forward to putting faces with avatars.

Welcome and enjoy that ride. Your post reminded me I need to do my best to depress the Harley market when I get back.

Look forward to seeing you at the next get together in NC then. The Motorman's technique comes in handy when negotiating tight turns and U-turns on narrow streets. It amazes me how those gals can swing those big machines around like toys. I need to take another coarse myself, to wear out the original front tire some more so I can get a sticky Avon Corbra in time for RAAIV. Welcome Stripes, good to have you here.
