people with experience in this please describe symptoms..

I fear I either have a slipping clutch or a bad tranny....

bike revs but doesn't want to move that much.... clutch lever feels wierd ( slippign clutch right?)

also when you put the bike in gear with engine off you can roll it back and forth some....more then normal thats for sure...

I adjust ed the cable ......

maybe one too many dog fights with the Busa at teh track last night?

Sounds like your clutch is slipping. If adjusting cable does not help much then your clutch plates are fried. Sorry dude, but time to replace. Better put stiffer springs in while you're at it.

On the bright side, clutch work is like ten times cheaper than a transmission.

and by adjusting the cable everyone means tightingin it up, as in that woudl compensate if the cable itself had stretched...

yeah I think its time for a new Barnet HD clutch...doubt I could convince the wife I need a Lockup clutch ( although its what I want)

I forget how much they were going for ...but I though it was around
$ 1,000 or so USD?

I know I can order a Barnett for 165 or so

Tightening the clutch actually means loosening the cable which means more slack in the lever. Tightening the adjustment nut at the hand lever is what's needed.

I believe Nev's lockup kit is closer to $1200 USD but exchange rates change a lot. Unless you're making more than 150 HP you probably don't need a lockup. It works real dandy in drag applications though.

well my drag strip runs are not every week, just happend to go back two weeks in a row and gave it hell racing faster bikes...

so loosen the cable not tighten the cable? its tight as heck now

You need to make sure when the clutch lever is not pulled, the cable needs to be loose with no tension on it at the elbow lever on the engine case. If it is tight, that means the cable is holding the clutch apart and so the transmission is not getting engaged fully when the lever is let go.

Most likely, you ate away alot of material from the friction discs so now there's more space between the discs and you have to adjust the cable to get things engaging again. You should still replace clutch plates even if adjusting the cable gets her working. Your plates may still be glazed and they won't last much longer if you have to make massive adjustments to the cable.

ok that makes sense, and I'll be placing an order to barnett soon...

I take it a dealer would charge a FORTUNE to replace this?

I looked at R34mes how to of nevs..I think I can handle that

**** Busa...Id have him beat then at teh last 5 feet hed go flyign by me ...said he was hiting 140-150 just to run me down..

I did beat several sport bikes....Rocket launches HARD out of the hole ...

of course that might be why my clutch is smoked

keep in mind I'm 240 DRY, and consitently turn 11.7 to 11.5's

Cracking times for a light weight, get some pies down you. I'm nearer 300.

The best i got on my first session was 12.6 with cat delete and ToRs.

so I was reading barnett makes SS cables for clutch as well... migth get one when I order..but don't see the part number for Rocket????
