Just finished putting on an incredible gadget on the bike. It's a programmable scrolling sign that I got from Ebay for only $56.00! (There's another of the same thing for $250!) It has four possible signs you program yourself from your computer via a RS232 port (parallel port), with up to 120 characters per sign. And you can select variable speeds to scroll each individual sign. I'm using one of the signs as an on/off switch for the power is hooked up directly to the battery (just program the word SWITCH and it will turn it off) There is also a wire lead that makes it act as a brake light also. After releasing the brake, it will go back to scrolling your sign. I had a little bit of difficulty at first for the instructions are a bit wrong in their wording. The colors of the wiring was reversed from the instructions but the correct lead will make the sign scroll a bunch of 1's before the emitter programs the first sign. And then to program the sign itself, you have to hold the handheld emitter right up to the center bottom of the LED's for it to accept a new scrolling sign. Presently my three signs are "TRIUMPH ROCKET III 2300 CC ENGINE 140HP ENOUGH TORQUE TO RIP YOUR ARMS OFF", then my second sign is "TRIUMPH WAS MY FIRST BIKE......AND SO IS MY LAST", and finally my last sign is "REDNECK REBEL ON A ROCKET.....THAT'LL GIT THE DOGS BARKIN"
I got it from Victor Genao who designed it for Atlas Amusements Corp, 2517 NW 21 Terrace #4, Miami, FL 33142. Phone # (305) 633-5211
The kit comes with a STAINLESS STEEL (not chrome) tag frame with an LED display board, a handheld emitter with four selection buttons, a cable from the emitter to your parallel port of a computer, a mini cd disc with the program, and a mostly accurate instruction book.
