An awesome day out with the Triumph Riders Waikato.
Down to Taupo and back up again. 380 Km's door to door for me.

Hamilton Saturday 9.00 AM.
We head South to Te Awamutu to Trevor Hall M/C's

Trevor has lots of nice bikes here, a Vincent Engine in a Norton Feather Bed chassis for example.

Off South to Maraetai Dam.

Then South East out to Lake Taupo.
The road out here to Taupo from the West was amazing, those Guys on their Sport Bikes did reasonably well to arrive within not too much time after Grunta and I.
Grant is on the 1050 Sprint.

North from Taupo by about 16Km's we got to the Aratiatia Dam that had opened the flood gates just before we arrived.

Before and after the gates being closed.
All of sudden everything went quiet and with in five minutes the water level had dropped dramatically.

From Aratiatia we headed further North from Taupo then hooked a left and headed west back to Whakamaru Dam.
When we first turned into this Road there was a big sign that said.
80 KPH.
HEADLIGHTS ON.
KEEP LEFT

Interesting I thought, very good Road surface, flat, good chip, wide !
Logging Truck road, execellent !

This road through the Valley was what I called STATE HIGHWAY ONE for M/C's.
This photo at the Western end at Whakamaru Dam.

Absolutely stunning country.

From here still heading North, up to Putaruru, skirted around that back into the Country Roads on to Tirau.
Again, in one side and out onto the Road to the Okororie Pub.
As mentioned earlier those little bikes do quite well :p

Well that was back in April, it's a bit cooler here now, but we don't get snow here in the Waikato (North Island. NZ)

I missed last Saturdays ride, but here's some photos of the Boys ride up to the Manakau Heads, North Island, West Coast.
