Riding Without Windshield

How tall are you? IMO the small Powerbronze screen looks ok, but for me at 190 cm's tall it didn't work due to the concentrated air stream at shoulders and neck.

That may make all the difference, close to 4" between us (I have 34" inseam)

I hate windshields! They distort your image, as you have to look through them. They will fog up, bugs, etc. On the Rocket, the shield is mounted to the forks, and any kind of wind gust, will effect steering. I tried one, for one ride, and took it off. Never been back on.

There’s a reason why Ultra Classics, Street Glides, Road Glides, and Road Kings come with farings and shields. Most people don’t like getting beaten up by the wind.

uuugh, but those batwing fairings are so ugly! I see guys riding with those in the summer when its 85+ degrees and wonder how are they not cooking. I have no windshield, just a fly screen and wear my mesh jacket and I'm still hot.

Yes sir, I could ride my FLT without gloves in 40 deg weather. Even hear the radio clearly.

I enjoyed all the responses, interesting. Thanks! My thinking is the bike looks best without, but would be a bit more comfortable with. Taller power bronze is what I ordered, just under 18 inches. I had 22 inch on the vtx, looked through the top of it. Have short torso, long legs. Hoping this will keep so much wind off chest, but not beat my head up. The shield is narrower than what I had, so looks better imo. Will post results just in case someone curious.

I've been told once you put a windshield on you'll never take it off therefore I never put one on.

Not true. I have done it twice
Again, i feel with a fairing that doesn't "fit" you it's like rolling down your car window a couple of inches vs rolling it down completely, you get intense "jets" of air that wrecks your neck in no time.

I agree, not true. I've installed and removed my windshield many times. The only time I like it is in the late fall when its getting colder.
