I have never been burned and i have the same setup as you Guess ive just learned to avoid the hot bits

Welded M5 boss's on my Rebands - A prick of a job... But at least now there is no hole through to the inside of the pipe.
@ozrider got the boss's for me and I welded a blank on one end then welded them tover the hole.

brass face hammer and block of wood, the perforated Stainless Steel is quite stiff but can be coaxed with a bit of determination, I have been thinking of tig welding a 3mm S/S rod around edge

I learnt a Bloody Long time ago not to go near a hot exhaust or Ride in Shorts and never been Stupid enough to wear Thongs (FlipFops to you) on a bike, around here I see it al the time and cringe in summer when idiot get around on their bikes and forsake safety for heat comfort
