Hello Rocketeers,
Checked my radiator level and had to add about a cup to see the coolant at the top of the
filler neck. Can't see anything in the overflow with bike upright. Bike is not leaking coolant
or if it is it's beyond me seeing, but sure it's not. Has never run hot. Replace stock w/ Samco hoses
a few months ago and no coolant has been found leaking since I got them tighned down well. Am
I right in that the check process is to have the bike upright and the coolant should always be at the
top? And when does the overflow play in. Should be at minimum when cold, right? Also, coolant
shouldn't evaporate, correct? Radiator cap is new OEM.
Thanks in advance.
may have had some air in the system
if the tank was full then system should have exhausted the air when hot then as it cools down it sucks water back into the radiator.
so system should maintain a level at minimum in the bottle and full in the tank
in this country mine will kick most of it out of the tank.
Check your oil to be on the safe side! I agree with @TURBO200R4 with air in the system! It takes a while to bleed all the air out with a change of fluid!
Once you get it sorted out you may want to consider this really easy mod. I found it pretty difficult to monitor the level through that overflow tank, but this tells you at a glance..
This may have been done before, so if it has, mods please delete. While flushing the coolant and fitting the new Samco silicone radiator hoses, I decided to have a crack at modifying the sight gauge on the radiator overflow bottle. My one is grey, and I can't tell what the level is without...
