I just noticed that it is slated for mid October which means it is unlikely that the weather will hold up enough for me to ride down. It could be warm and dry or it could be snowing that time of year up here, you never know. I could drive partway down, say Indiana or Illinois and ride the rest if it looks dodgy.

What ever it takes. You have enough R3 riders to help you along the route.
Have you ever been to Texas?

we are all about accommodating the brethren...if it needs to be a few weeks earlier...so be it

if you absolutely can't make the run on your own let me know. you may have to ride an HD but you will be there if you want to. The folks on this site have alternatives.....

One thing to keep in mind when we are kicking dates around. It gets hot in Texas in the summer...**** hot...Africa hot. The faster you ride the hotter you get. Can be sorta like riding thru a blast furnace. Not quite as bad in the hill country but can still be uncomfortable in the height of summer...and we don't need to see any of our distinguished brethern riding down the road in their tighty whiteys

I've been all down the east coast but never farther west than Tenessee so if I make it down this year it will be a new experience for me.

Best riding weather is March through May.. and Sept through November. June, July and August are doable in the mornings, but get Africa hot!!! ( great description! ) by the afternoon. Big Bend even gets hotter than that during those months! Most runs to Big Bend are around the March time frame.. Summer mornings here in South Texas are some of the best riding conditions ever.. Just want to be near a watering hole by about 2:30PM because after that, it's HOT.. :)

Mid-October gives everyone a chance to plan and puts us in the beginning of Fall (South Texas Fall) weather. September wouldn't be bad either if that is more accomodating to some? I know reservations for most of the lodging spots in the Hill Country fill up pretty quick for "prime" riding season.

If we decide on Leakey, or that area, I live about 2 hours from the Hill Country if I need to go up there to help set things up. I can't always get away, but I do plan on making this RAA Texas when and where ever.. :)

Met with R3Tex

Met with R3Tex yesterday at Texas Pride BBQ near San Antonio. Super nice guy, as are most RIII riders I've met. I know, that almost sounds like an old Honda ad, but it's pretty true. He got to hear what old Jardines sound like, which I think made him want his to get here yesterday!.. :)

We talked a bit about lodging.. I figure the Frio Pecan Farm is a good bet, since there was an R3 gathering there a few years ago. Also, D'Rose Inns & Cabins or Koyote Ranch would be good options as well. R3Tex plans on heading that direction in April to scout the roads and check out some of these places for lodging. I have ridden by them, but never stayed at any of them.

Also talked about stops at the Lone Star Motorcycle Museum/ACE Cafe' which has some awesome bikes and good food, as well as the Frio Canyon Motorcycle Stop which sells gear, and anything else you might have forgot as well as food and such.

I have ridden only one of the Three Sisters.. ;) 337.. but have not made the entire loop, which I have always wanted to do..

Don't know if a date is narrowed down yet, but most likely will be in the Fall, October time frame?

October sounds good, how about the second week, that is the starting point and we can change it from there if necessary:)
