R3 Sales Prognistications

Here in NZ my cousin bought a new 2004 Rocket when they hit the floor...paid $NZ 32000....back then!...
GT here is $37600.
They are in line with a lot of other bikes price wise...Harleys...maybe Injuns...
For me personally, I prefer Triumph and the quality on these new bikes is second to none.
Time will tell .....

I predicted last year that they would sell well. I guess that needs to be qualified so I will add , better than the older models. It will not however compared to HD bikes in general.

I never have seen many if any Gen 1 Rockets on the roads around here. This is Harleyville. There are Japanese bikes and ****** rockets but few Triumph on the road.

The new Rockets are already selling fairly well. Just look at how many new members we have gained in the last few months. This bike appeals to a slightly different group and not everybody wants the fastest bike out there. Some guys just want a Truimph and they want the big one. Price is not a deal breaker for many men wanting new toys. Harley and Indian buyers are accustomed to bike that cost in the low 20’000 USD range. To some this price tag is actually cheap.

I will have to forecast that this will not be a common bike to see on the road. It ain’t no Street Glide. It will sell better than the Gen 1 bikes. These days most want the electronics and tech even if it is not the cutting edge stuff.

I already get to say I told you so.:roll::roll:

PS. Don’t see a gaggle Diavels or KTMs ourrunning me either.

The gen one Rocket had a 14 year run with basically the same bike. This one has no chance without a major redesign. For 20k if fits no category and does nothing most other bikes won't do better. Unless you love the looks, and it ain't no looker, it will be destined to hold down the showroom floors. First year sales will NOT be an indicator of how well it sells. After the initial sales will tell the tale, and it won't be a good one.

Just bought a new to me 2012 Rocket Touring with 4000 km. This is my 3rd Rocket and my biggest regret is not taking my Jardine header from my 2nd Rocket. My biggest question is, where is the fixed fairing and all the other touring accessories a touring bike should have. I live in Manitoba Canada and need wind protection as you will find me riding with the thermometer hovering around 0' C.

PS. Don’t see a gaggle Diavels or KTMs ourrunning me either.

I'm looking forward to owner stories of running against their buddy's bike, just to see where it fits in the hierarchy.
Especially interested in real world roll ons vs the Diavel and 1290 KTM. Obviously they will walk the R3 bad on the top end, if that matters to anyone.
