Hey all,
sorry if this has already been discussed somewhere...
I’m 192 cm (6'3") and currently riding a R Storm version after over 10 years on a M1800R/M109R. Naturally, I’m used to a stretched-out cruiser riding position – like what the GT version offers with its forward pegs, but
I choosed the R version mainly because I didn’t like the GT’s pulled-back handlebars, which put me in too upright a posture. The wide, straight bars on the R feel much better for my size and riding style.
That said, I really miss the forward-mounted foot pegs. The mid-position pegs on the R feel a bit cramped for my height. I know Triumph sells an official conversion kit, so swapping pegs between GT and R is possible both ways.
Also, a key reason I went with the R: the seat. It’s a bit smaller, but sits higher than the GT’s – and that extra height helps keep my knees from being too bent.
So – has anyone here installed the GT foot pegs on an R model?
Any feedback on comfort, handling, or how the setup feels overall?
I know many GT owners go the other way due to heat from the headers or general discomfort, so I’d love to hear if anyone’s done the reverse.
Thanks!
