I put on a 205/60/16 Pirelli Cinturato P7 car tire on my Touing and I am very happy with it. I bought tire from Tirebuyer.com, total cost delivered to nearby retailer $106. I have run car tires on my last 4 bikes (honda vtx 1800, goldwing 1800, yamaha 1900 Stratoliner, and now my Rocket touring). I had a 215/65/16 Michelin Hydroedge 90k tire on the VTX, it handled very well but had good bit of wobble over 90 mph. I had a 195/55/16 General G-Max on the Goldwing, I didn't like it because it was too spongy even with 50 lbs of air. I had a Michelin Hydroedge on the Stratoliner. Now I have a the Pirelli Cinturato on the Touring. The Pirelli is my favorite so far. It holds very well on corners and didn't have the wobble at 115mph. It is a 70k tire and I hope to put 30 to 40k on it. My Michelin had 18k on it when I sold the VTX and it still looked almost new.

Installing the tire was made more difficult because of the driveshaft dust ring (is the ring removable?). I had to take off the shocks (to lift swing arm) and let air out of the tire to squeeze tire between dust ring and swing arm. Tire would have rolled right in if dust ring was not in the way. The tire has an inside and outside, I was told to put the inside on the the driveshaft side or the tire would wear uneven.

My bike is now handling like I hoped it would. With the Pirilli on back and the Michelin 130/90/16 Commander on front I am now able to take curves and turns with much more confidence and the vibration is reduced to almost none.

Anyway if anyone is thinking of putting a car tire on, I think you would like the Pirelli.

PS: if anyone is considering a 130 tire, I can tell you I greatly prefer the 130/90/16 over the 150/80/16. I hope the Michelin Commander handles the miles and if it does I will probably stay with it.

I've always run directional tires on my bikes. 1400 Intruder, M109, & C109, and never had problems with tracking or wobble. Great traction, especially on wet roads.
I have always had wobble at high speed on all mine except current one. The 3 previous tires were directional and my current one is inside outside. Wobble at high speed is a common complaint of many Darksiders.

I post this only as a caveat - and because I have considerable experience with this issue:

If you have an accident while running a car tire on a motorcycle, you will have a GREAT DEAL of trouble obtaining compensation for your injuries (if you are a plaintiff) or defending a claim for injuries brought against you (if you are a defendant). Expert testimony will establish that the vehicular dynamics of operating a motorcycle with a car tire as the driving wheel, is inherently dangerous, outside of the contemplation of EVERY design engineer who designs motorcycles and outside the contemplation of EVERY designer who designs either motorcycle tires or car tires. You will not be able to find a tire industry engineer who will testify under oath that a car tire has the necessary directional stability and cornering characteristics to be SAFELY and PREDICTABLY used on a motorcycle under all operating conditions. They will, however, testify that both the profile and carcass design of a car tire are inherently antithetical to the physical environment and physical forces within which a motorcycle operates. The fact that you were operating a motorcycle with a car tire installed WILL become a central issue in your litigation - and it will not be to your benefit.

Take this for what it's worth, but I can tell you that in 40 years of legal practice - I have NEVER lost a motorcycle case I've tried to a jury, either for a plaintiff of a defendant.

So there! :sneaky:

 Surely not. I can't believe it! You must be part of 'the conspiracy'. Plus you obviously haven't factored in how cheap they are - the tyres that is. ;)

I'm sorry if this sounds ignorant but why put a car tire on a bike? I've read many posts about "the dark side" but have never asked the question so I hope not to offend anyone but am truly curious.
Thanks

Good question I'd like to hear the answer to.I know you get at least triple the mileage at half the price, but I wonder after reading this relative information today is the risk still worth it.??
