I've been using Pure Power oil filters for years. Anyone try one on their R3 yet? I've had one on since my last oil change. I definitely recommend them. They actually filter your oil (unlike paper filters) and remove magnetic metal particles flowing through your motor. They say it increases horsepower as well, maybe 2-3 hp. I think I notice a difference.

Oh here's a link http://www.gopurepower.com/store/item.a ... 0&dia=true

No , we probably dont have magnetic particles running through our motors, but it is entirely possible we have small pieces of metal filings from wear n tear in there and thats the idea of the magnet , to attract them.I have had many bikes with magnetic sump plugs that catch some nasty lookin metal filings.Incidently, when i had to clean out the rust outta my tank not so long ago, I placed a welding magnet in a surgical rubber glove , stuck it inside the tank and blew in there with compressed air.A lot of the rust sticks to the magnet, so when you need to repeatedly clean the magnet, you just take it outta the glove and the rust falls off.Worked well.

I've been considering one, I just can't put my hands on one.

There is another brand of permanent mesh filter. Can't remember which, but as I recall they were cheaper=($120-$150) That company claimed the filter would act as an oil cooler.

I meant metal particles that can be picked up by a magnet, sorry! Pure Power is the best company making these and it's worth the extra $50. You can get one through the mail at the web address I posted above. I got mine in 3 days $12 shipping. Real easy to clean with soap and water and finish with a hose. Lots of fine metal particles stuck to those magnets (looks like graphite). Stuff I wouldn't want circulating through my motor. Do some research, regular oil filters don't really filter your oil. They're hopeful to catch a few particles in the folded pleats of paper inside the oil filter if your lucky!!! The Pure Power filter actually filters the oil!!

A person might be suprised by just how much metal is floating around in your oil. We take oil samples at work at every oil change on all our heavy equipment and pick-up trucks and have it sent off to the lab for evaluation. The results are actually quite shocking
