Bike just turned 20,000 and I have a new ram air system coming in for this week so I got out of bed this morning took off all the plumbing for the intake, I took the tank off so I’d have more room for checking lifter clearances. Got her back together waiting for the ram air to come in tomorrow, so in my opinion that was a pretty productive day.
I use the jack stands as well when I'm working on the bike as its nice and level. No jacking required they just sit under the lower bars. I put the non side stand side under first... stand bike up until far bar touches then slide other jack under side stand side...simple it just stands level! I also chock front n back wheels just in case but its not needed.
Lol... thanks and I will. I found a pretty good video last night that detailed the measurement process so I am fairly confident that I can manage that piece of the Adventure....with a little guidance from the folk here on the forum as yourself.
I have never replaced a shim before and am curious as to how you fellas do it without removing the cam....preventing potiential timing issues.
All that said I’m probably a year to a year and a half out before I’m in a position to have to have it done... thanks
Good old Fred ,the rocket scientist, Made a tool for removing the shims with the cams still in place. Very handy if you only need to change out a couple of them.
