Hi looking for more information on the out put shaft failure. I have removed the sump and found bearing remains but also aluminium shavings so now wondering if the normal bearing that fails is in the rear housing

The “normal” bearing i believe you are referring to is the bearing that was installed backwards on the torsional damper, on the first rockets out. Depending on your year this has been resolved. You can pull torsional damper to look at it, i dought thats the issue with this engine looking at debris field, but regardless that engine will need to be opened up.The output shaft you mentioned is the transmission shaft that drives torsional damper and it could be damaged as well.
