Umm, where is Plya?
The wife told me that I've been spelling it wrong ... it's Playa Del Carmen, not Plya. And it's W A Y south of the boarder ... out on the tip of the south eastern part of Mexico.

OH, Excellent News .... We up and decided that we would stay another 5 days just for the hell of it. I don't have to be back for work since I'm suspended/fired , and she has extra days of leave this year, I suggested we just stay. The airline was happy to change our return date since the flight was over booked, and Europe car was fine with us keeping the rental, and neither tried to charge us anything extra for the change.
We will probably have to slum it and find another place to stay, but what the hell ... it's warm here!!!!!

another 5 days. enough time to find a job there. :D
Believe you me, I've been picking as many brains of the the ex-pats we've run into and an acquaintance of Debbie's who built the condo units we've been staying in. They all say the same thing first, get a good attorney. Seems Mexico isn't anything like the US when it comes to foreigners just moving in and starting a business. Where in the states anyone with a green card can own anything and the government even gives them grants or low interest loans to start a business ... here in Mexico, foreigners are not permitted to own any property at all withing 40 miles of the ocean, and the government actually discourages and makes it **** near impossible for non citizens to start a business. It can be done, but it requires a Mexican attorney to hold title to everything since you can't. They said it would most likely require start up and living capital of around $100K and about a year if you're lucky. I'm only short about $80K and have a wife that probably wouldn't be able to live like a local in a ****ty apartment for more than an hour.
I guess I need to start living like a scrooge and start saving more as fast as possible. And that means no more lavish Mexican vacations ... Probably be divorced in 6 months. lol
