New Rocket Rider

Welcome from Texas. I have a 600cc Triumph and they are different animals. One makes power from 2000 rpm's and peter's out at 6000, the other is just getting started at 7000 and goes to 14,000. They both top out at about the same speed, which lets you know there's a whole bunch of untapped power lurking inside that Rocket. Enjoy your new beast!

Thanks! Hi!

Thanks a lot for the nice welcome guys! it's great to know that there are a bunch of other guys that appreciate such a bike -- I'm from northern NJ -- next to NYC, and I've had the bike for maybe 5 days now, enjoying the hell out of it! Sorry it's taken me so long to respond guys, I've been just working at getting used to the bike, I purchased this 08 Rocket with 3,312 miles on it, previous owner kept it mint, I have no complaints.

1st gear is kind of scary! Not used to the torque on this thing....

It gets looks everywhere it goes, from sport bikers to harley riders to car drivers!!!

The only thing I'm not a fan of is the exhaust -- I'd really like to upgrade to something MUCH louder -- I'm not trying to be obnoxious, but Northern NJ has a lot of idiot drivers on the road - i HAVE been struck by a car before on a motorcycle, so I want to ASSURE that people know that I'm around them. Any suggestions would be greatly appreciated -- I do like the Jardine 3 to 1 exhaust, nobody seems to really like the 'Shorty' or zard exhausts for these bikes -- Anyone have any comments?

thanks! where are you haling from? I'm up in Bergen county, where do you guys usually ride?

I'm barely on putting 400 miles on this thing but I've only had it for 5 days, it's kind of scary how 1st gear wants to rip off the tarmac, but I'm just taking it easy and getting used to the low speed handling and what not, Definitely more comfortable than a 600, the other morning I rode for 3 hours, got off the bike feeling like nothing ever happened! I used to break my back on that Ninja!!

yeahboie! I never even heard of rockets til this April. Took one for a test ride & put money down on the spot. Rode mine today til it hurt. Icing my butt for a few min then out for another 50mi. Its not raining or snowing so run it..

trying to ride as much as I can but I'm also avoiding this heat we're having here, plus, it rains like very strange times/spots every couple of days here, NOT FUN! lol

I live in great riding country. As I'm in westernmost Morris County (about 20 mis. west of Morristown), I usually lurk locally on beautiful 2 lane backcountry roads with lots of twisties, great scenery and very few vehicles encountered. Typically county roads in Warren, Sussex, Hunterdon & Somerset Cos and alot of cruising the Delaware River roads from New Hope north to the Gap and around the New York watershed up above Port Jervis. Let me know when you want to escape the masses, Reaper! I'd be happy to show you some great routes.

give me a couple more miles on this thing so I can get used to it more, and I'll definitely hit you up. I don't wanna get left behind!!!

Welcome Reaper

Back when I did my test ride that's exactly what I said, just like sittin' at home on the couch! Ain't it great!!!! Big smiles and safe miles. Marty
