Test Ride

Took out a Roadster this weeek. easily the best bike been on. Amazingly stable, torquey, comfortable and smooth. WANT ONE

Why not tour on a Roadster? Don't like the single light or where the speedo is on the Touring. Hell I remember my 1st trip from England to Portugal on a Yamaha XT500 back in 1983. With a screen and sissy & rack it'll be fine. Got to admit I'd love to do the States on one...
Whatever model you get, may I suggest that you add extra lighting for the dark twisties. IMO of the few little things that are lacking on the R3 (besides no 6th gear) is the headlights are weak and leave dark areas no matter how they are adjusted. Driving lights are a must.
In 18k miles on my 08, my only repair has been a small drip from the water pump shaft seal repaired under warranty. OH >>>> and it eats tires! lol ;)
Welcome to the site.

Welcome Nick

Didn't add that I am getting the matt black one. Take it there's a sissy bar with rack available as the sissy bar would take my Ventura Bike Pack I have had since 96. Also plan on putting a Baglux harness on the tank so I can use my tank bag. With an Ortleib waterproof bag on the rack I'll be ready for touring. Maybe replace the footpegs with boards. oh and a screen. That'll do for me nicely. This early retirement lark sounds the business...

Wecome to the forum Nick. Congratulations on the retirement thing. The Rocket will grow on you as the time and miles fly by.

I did not realized you were retired !! I have a proposition when you make your way to calgary next week!!

To Hellfire

Hi there. What mileage do you get out of the back tyre, OK tire. Have heard wildly differing reports. One bloke told me 10,000. Others say 5,000. Suppose if you tear the arse out of it you'll get not much but by riding on the torque is 8-10,000 feasible? Nick

You would like me to ride your bike for you while you put out forest fires??? I'm in!!

Hi there...I am taking a test ride next week although I know I will love the beast. Sitting on it I was amazed how balanced and light the bike is...well at least it feels light. This will be the 1st 'cruiser' I have owned...Talked to a guy the other day who has done 40000 miles in 4 years on a Rocket Roadster with NO PROBLEMS. Are they generally reliable? I will be doing 10000 miles a year in Portugal and Europe. Greetings to you all.
Ive not gotten through subsequent posts that verify an existence of a "Roadster" four years old. But my early assessment is...
Hello Lagos Nick and welcome to the forum from New Jersey. Lotsa' changes coming up in your world, eh?...

Regardless, once you become the proud owner of one of these beasts, you will learn all about the true meaning of the term "permagrin", which is a condition that comes with said ownership.:D

Enjoy the ride!
Permagrin:roll::roll:
