Hi All:

I too look forward to your comparison with the VRod.

I too had a VRod when I purchased the Rocket, with intentions to keep them both. The Rocket stayed in the stable and the Rod was swapped for a Speed Triple.

I absolutely loved my Vrod..... a seriously cool bike, in my mind. I don't think I ever filled the tank without someone coming over to talk about it. It had that "it" factor in spades.

Still and all, I sold it. I wanted something to ride longer miles (my hands would get tired from the pulling, more than anything) and I couldn't make the Vrod to carry anything without, IMHO, ruining the it's whole appearance. I'm not certain it even corners better than the Rocket after I switched tires (on the Rocket), so it doesn't have that going for it either. I scraped the pegs on it nearly every ride, which I don't on the Rocket.

Thus, for me, I couldn't make the Vrod into anything remotely practical (forget 2-up, as everyone knows), while the Speed Triple is much more "fun" to ride than the Vrod..... When I'd make myself ride the Vrod out of guilt after getting the Rocket, it felt absolutely tiny: a mini-bike in hooligan form. I don't have that feeling when stepping over the Triple as one just "knows" it's a different animal than the Rocket altogether.

That's this man's experience anyway. I look forward to yours.

Welcome from Minnesota, where it's presently -17 C. I'm avoiding all the threads from you bastards in warmer climes.

Really like your take on shorter exsaust. Clean and compact.

I am running stock exsaust on my 2011 R3R. I get the design and like the look on the bike, nevertheless am a fan of shorter and a little more rumble from the pips. Someday soon must make a change desesion.

Lots of good ideas on this sight!
