Hey all, just joined the forum to start full blown research on the R3 mainly to research heat issues and what kind of windscreen gives the most turbulent free ride.
Time to start reading. Thanks.

I have to disagree with Scot about heat. Yes it is a big lump of a motor but I don't find the heat to be anymore than V-twins or some sport bikes. As to windscreen a lot depends on height and how you sit on bike. I'm 5-10 and am using the stock R3T screen. I look over it but get some buffeting on helmet. Use of lowers also affect buffeting.

Welcome to the forum; hope you find the right Rocket for you and buy it.

The Rocket IS a very hot bike - every time to go back to mine and there's a crowd standing round, someone will say "that's a hot bike" - so it must be true! :D If you're talking temperature, well it's a big lump of metal containing 2300cc of explosions and a gallon or so of near boiling water, so yes, there's heat.

Windscreen? You'll get buffetting no matter which one you choose. Better off without one I reckon (except if there's lots of flying insects around). Zero turbulance on a bike? Not while it's moving.

Welcome from sunny Fl, yep it is a hot bike 2300cc does produce a lot of heat, the 26" clearview is one windscreen (depends on how tall you are)
I agree with Scott I put a special made 5 inch taller windshield on my rocket becalls of body size, I'll just look over the top of it and I run lowers I can wear my regular ball cap at 70 mph and it does not blow off with lowers but the drawback is in the city they are warm on a hot day because they do block quite a bit of air. They make a Banks air wing that is the best of both worlds will let more air in or take it away but a little rich for my blood take a look it might not be four yours pick you out a rocket and enjoy :D

Welcome
They only say your's is Hot when Mine not Sitting Next to It
I all seriousness though I have two screens for short stints like 1 1/2 to 2 hour rides I run a FlyScreen (Triumph Sport Screen) but for touring 7 to 10 hour days I use the lagre Triumph screen both of which bolt on to the same fitting kit so it is only a 4 bolt change over, Presonally I have only ever complained of heat when sitting in slow traffic while other bikes I have owned and ridden are a lot hotter due to fairings etc and as far as Hardleys are concerned they really chuck out the heat.... horrid slug also very hot, the Rockets will be a lot cooler on a trip
