Hi all, I hope this hasn’t been asked and answered before. I tried a search and didn’t see anything recent that jumped out at me. I just purchased a Competition Werkes exhaust, and am wondering if any of you have experience with the install? I’m confident I can get things installed, but wondering if a new exhaust gasket is really necessary? I purchased a couple JIC as a video I watched indicated their original was difficult to take out without damage, and the one they bought to replace that also got chewed up a bit during install. Anyone have experiences they could share?

If it's just the slip-on type of exhaust (not headers) you have to remove the remove the pinch bolt #23 from the bike to get that new gasket (#25) in. It's a bit of a PITA.

I bought a compitition werkes used and was able to use my old gasket. I still ordered one before I changed it just in case cuz there is nothing worse than making a 1 hour job take days to complete because you wanted to save $7

I had the Werkes for a while and sold it. I reused the gasket on the Werkes and then again on reinstall of the original. Take your time and be careful removing the gasket and you should be OK, but if you have time to wait for a new one to get shipped from the motherland, then that would, of course, be best.

I seems to remember using a very small flat head screwdriver to very carefully pry out the gasket

Fair enough. I actually have 2 on order, in case I mangle one during installation. I know another local Rocketeer who plans to also change out their exhaust, so if I don’t use the other I’ll give it to him for when he changes.
