NEW ENGLAND -- VERMONT/NEW HAMPSHIRE/MAINE? -- SPRING LAUNCH
Seems we went off topic from another post with comments from a few New Englander's saying how few other R3's we get to see in these neck of the woods. I've seen one in 3 years! Seems some interest in a "Spring Launch" ride in Vermont, New Hampshire & Maine. I think I inadvertently was nominated (or suggested) that I might help with this so here it goes.
I have lived and ridden for almost 30 years, 3 years with the Rocket, mostly in New Hampshire and Maine. After the inevitable off season with -- best case-- 4 months of no riding, Spring is a much anticipated time. What better way to
launch than a blessing to the weather gods to gather a number of R3's.
Lots of options to offer, very very nice scenic mountain passes and overlooks. Spectacular scenery. Large variety of areas, ocean, mountain, villages some with nice higher speed runs, big sweepers and great pull off view sites to stretch ones legs. And coastal "cruising" with the quintessential New England seaports ( think Great Lobster Rolls)
There seemed to be some interest in the other thread and so I though I would post this and see. Sorry, if I do not respond more quickly at times. Seems I only get a chance to check in a couple of times a week. But I am truly interested in helping with some local knowledge and with eagerness to put my beast next to a few others. My two girls would likely attend as well, as passengers, my wife and my dog.
So just a few thoughts for comment perhaps:
When?
A few of us talked on other post about mid May being a pretty "safe" bet for roads clean of winter salt and sand, likely good temperatures, perhaps some likelihood of rain but one never knows. I can, along with others, help with suggestions. My personal time is very flexible so there is a bunch of room to play with here.
How long? Again, I am flexible but I understand that there are other rides which some are planing on.
Needs and wants, accommodations, rides, after hours events etc. OK, that off the top of my head. This would be my first R3 group ride and I would be eager to join in and to meet some of you, obviously, very strange and disturbed people. Hey, normal people buy....
Sure there is a lot we can put together if there is the interest. The more the merrier of course and anyone who has not rode up here will find a unique part of the US. Let me know if I can do anything to help. I for one am signed on. Hope to see some of you soon!
