New Bonneville Variant Spied for 2017

Apparently they're going to give a hardtail bobber a shot based on the 2016 motor. Here's the article and an image:



I've never been particularly interested in the style myself, but this one seems a bit off to me. Like the seat is a bit too far forward and the pegs not far enough. the riding position seems to be a bit cramped. What do you guys think? I do like that Triumph is branching out on models though. Hopefully this one works out for them even if it doesn't appeal to me.
 
 
And on the cycle world page - there you have Spain - Slow old truck passing tractor where one cannot theoretically pass (OK it's a tractor so you sometimes can).
It's more a SOFTAIL than HARDTAIL. Oh dear passes my lips.
 
My eldest son has a Bonneville a blue and white SE and he loves it ,he is not a big fellar and it suits him, it has been super reliable and has no problems keeping up with the big boys, I must admit it is nice to throw a smaller bike into the corners and with a set of Staintunes and a remap goes and sounds simular to its earlier namesake, just a nice smaller bike with lots of character ,the 2016 model should be a nice machine if I could just drop 20Kg and shrink down to 5'8 I might be interested because I am all over the little bike like cheap suit, OK for short runs but a 1000k day would cripple me. and I don't like the Thunderbirds so its the Rocket for a while.
 
I like the idea but as you stated yes that rider looks very cramped and uncomfortable. Cool bike though

I admit I'm not sure what the difference is on hardtail vs softail, just parroting the article. I had assumed a hardtail was just a bike without suspension on the rear wheel and instead had a few springs on the seat to absorb bumps.

It only LOOKS like a Hardtail. Like Harley Softails there will be springs in there somewhere.
Single unit running up under the seat from top part of rear triangle swing arm to rear of tank would be my guess.
A true hardtail would SERIOUSLY damage sales potential. For a start they don't handle as well.
 

That makes sense. The article does say 'hardtail-look'. Not sure whey they went with that particular phrasing.
 
I wouldn't buy one, but I'm sure that there is some market for it. It would be illegal in Maryland though, because it doesn't have passenger seating or pegs.
