New aftermarket rear shock!

Thank you Nashvegas for your reminders about the place I live...it's true that it's quite particular, especially with regard to the rains...I don't have the only Rocket on the island, far from it but I have the one which is the most modified...and, again, this is only the beginning because it will soon be entitled to a good adjustment on a Dynojet bench in order to recover the horses hidden by Triumph. ..
From a quick tour on Google Earth the interior looks like supermoto country. Some amazing twisty little roads. A Husky or KTM SMR on slicks would be a hoot on your island.
 
Yes, you are absolutely right!
The island is very small but with a multitude of very twisted roads and very steep gradients. On the west side of the island where I live, you go from 0 to 2200 m in 40 kilometers... Another famous road is the road with the 300 bends (in truth there are almost 400... .) which goes from St Louis to Ilet à Cordes (La Rivière to Îlet à Cordes). It's a crazy thing to do that I had fun doing in my youth with my 500KX supermoto...
Currently, as my hair has turned white, I continue to do it while riding my SF Ducati V4S, it's fun !

Yes, basically it doesn't tell us anything that we didn't already know... Regarding the Rocket's suspensions it would have been appreciable if Triumph, as they do for other motorcycles in their range, offered the Öhlins option !

True.
It's also not very scientific either, but I think it does tend to highlight that, for road riding, it's not necessarily the quality/brand that improves the ride.
It's more important to spec the spring first and foremost followed by the damping to suit.
....and that the quality of build and the amount of adjustment can only take you so far, in the quest for better comfort/dynamics.

@Kevin frazier always has good ideas that cost me money but he really nailed this one! I installed a Wilbers 643 COMPETITION QS rear shock about two months ago and it is the best thing (along with the Penner tune/dyno) that I have modified on my bike! It really shines in corners that have bumps/irregularities on them. Amazingly smooth and trustworthy, a huge, noticeable difference from stock. On straights it is very comfortable and compliant and provides a stellar feel for the road I’m on. Large/big bumps are still sharp like the stock one but not anywhere near the jarring and then floating feeling that stock has. This one gets back down to the road surface much faster, smoother.

I really like it and definitely recommend it for our bikes except that now I’m wondering what great front ones would feel like. Oh, oh…

@Nashvegas, how did you access the top bolt for that rear shock? I can't find the nut anywhere!
