Neutral Switch Adjustment

Anyone had experience wiht the neutral switch adjustment? Any pointers? When I put it in neutral the green neutral light does not come on. I ease it into first and the light comes on just as it goes in gear. I can't run the bike wiht the kickstand down in neutral with the clutch out like I used to be able to. It has been slowly getting to thei point. For a while it would flicker in neutral, but still run wiht the kickstand down and clutch out while it flickered. I am sure there must be some adjustement but thought I's ask BEFORE i muck it up this time. 2007 Rocket standard.
 
There is a gear position sensor that gets dirty and needs cleaning, it's on the left side at the back of the engine. Just remove and clean the contacs, there is a post about it some where, in the technical section.
 
Thanks Goth. I see the sensor, i'll yank it tonight and see if I can improve the situation.

Thanks IDK. I fund the post Goth referenced...Looks like I should be able to make it better....or get a new switch.
 
Cut the wire on the sidestand switch.

Problem solved.

here's where the sensor mount in the rear left of the block



Here's the sensor which needs to be cleaned with emory or Scotch brite




clean the copper contacts as they send the signals.
