Need a part identified

I was told it's a temp sensor. It came from the back of the head.
The mechanic said it's probably malfunctioning and causing the motor to pump too much fuel at low rpms, causing it to stumble just off idle.
Can anyone confirm or deny?
 
Are you running K&N 's ? If so it's usually placed in its own little filter. I mounted mine in the K&N closest to the front of the bike.
 
He is an independent shop that works on all brands, but mostly HD in his shop.

I had a couple of spots in the rpm range I needed smoothed out.
