MTC Engineering has stepped up to the plate to produce performance parts for the R3!

Correspondence from MTC:

"The target for the billet basket prototype is to be completed before Bikeweek. It is slated to be installed in a project for Wyotech and dyno'd. MTC will be setup at Wyotech for the 1st part of the week, so stop by and say "Hi!" Later in the week we will be setup at the AMA Dragbike race in Valdosta.

This project is moving along nicely, mostly due to the internal fiber tab pattern matching an existing billet basket. The basket we are currently working with is an early model. Once we have this one nailed down, we will take a look at the later model. It is possible that the only changes Triumph made were internal, this would be the best case scenario. We also have a clutch fiber kit we will be testing in this bike, they have much larger contact pads than the stock fibers. Additionally we will install one of our lockups in the R3. There are still several things we will have to work out before the lockup gets a green light.

I will keep you all posted if any speed bumps arise and let you know when you can expect a retail version of the basket, fibers, and lockup to be available."

So the billet clutch basket will soon be a reality, along with a better clutch fibers kit. It sounds like they are serious about their own version of a Lock-up Clutch, and I know they are serious about producing forged R3 pistons (another dispatch). This is great news for all R3 owners... improved parts and competition!

Hombre, I have to respectfully ask that you stop posting stuff like this.

I sold my supercharged Mustang Cobra, I sold my Corvette, I sold my Viper, I sold my BMW K bike, then I sold my R1200GS. I intentionally bought an R3 Touring. You know, the de-tuned, slower model. At my age, its time to slow down and smell the roses. Then, I bought a D&D exhaust. Well, that required a K&N drop in filter, so I bought one of those. Then I lucked into a really good deal on a Tuneboy, so I bought that. Then Wayne developed a tune for the R3T that, with the addition of triple filters would bring the bike up to R3 Standard power. SO, I bought the filters.

I keep telling myself that I'm done. I have a comfortable, touring cruiser that makes reasonable power. Of course you can't pull up to a light without finding a HD sitting next to you. Well, that has created a whole new sport. I've now found myself looking at Sam's pipes and wondering if he'd build a set for the R3T. Of course, that would be my LAST modification.

I'm quite sure that a turbo or a supercharger would be completely out of place on a touring bike. So it only follows that things like forged pistons, lock up clutches, and other esoteric goodies would be equally wrong for my bike. So, before I do something really stupid I'll ask again. Please stop it. You're making my transition to old guy on a touring bike much harder than it should be.

On the other hand, wouldn't a 200 horsepower bagger just be the tits.....

You've got some competition in the fastest R3 bagger category. I know of one R3 bagger with Nev's cams already... could be more.

Although I dont have the setup to do these mods, I sure as hell love reading about other people doing them!!!!!!

Makes me proud to show those hardly riders what a couple simple mods can do as opposed to their stage I, II, III IV, V and who knows how many more they need just to be able to keep up and read my plate!!!!!!!!!

Ok, now I have a new hero.

I suspect those bags are easily removed. My only complaint on the R3T is that when you remove the bags the remaining frame is so unsightly that you'd be ashamed to leave the garage.

Thats what the super charger is for. Cant see the mounts for the bags, its going to fast!!!!
