Mounting Tollway E-pass

Live in Chicago and spend all summer weekends at a campground in Indiana about 75 miles from home – great ride BUT -. The less traveled path requires 3 tolls. I have an “I Pass” a small white box approximately 3”x3”x1/2”. I’m electronically “billed” for tolls and only need to come to a “rolling stop” or blow through at highway speed at some booths.

I tried it inside a pair of chaps Sunday but the system could not read it inside the pocket and I had to stop and deal with the toll booth operator which is a real pain – it was cold and I was wearing gloves making the removal and reinsertion into the pocket a pain in the butt.

I use the standard Velcro on my 77KZ100 so it mounts on the (inside of) wind screen. Not ready to place adhesives on the new Rocket windscreen.

I’m thinking about the top of the front brake cylinder but I’m open to suggestions. Does anyone else have this issue?

I put an EZPass (I believe the same box is used in Il as in MD) in the pocket of the Triumph leather tank bra and it would read just fine when slow rolling through a gate. I haven't tried it on a high-speed gate.

Mount it on the wind screen with double face tape or Velcro (Its your bike isn't it ????)

If its clear acrylic your sticking to it comes off with a mild cleaner just check its ok on acrylic.

Cyclestuff and I think Aerostitch have holders that are sized for the EZ pass and mount to the bars. Works fine.

On the trip from Delaware to Niagara Falls, I had the E-Z Pass in a pocket on the windscreen. Must have gone through 7-8 rolling toll booths (E-Z Pass lanes) and it turned out that none of them registered me. One toll took my picture and they sent me a bill for .50 cents if I mailed back my E-Z Pass number. Seems only one toll even picked up the bike on sensors because none of them ever charged me. Ended up making the entire round trip for .50 cents in tolls due to them not being able to pick up the largest production bike made. Makes you wonder how many smaller bikes are slipping through as well. Now that I know how the system works, I won't even bother using the E-Z Pass on the bike anymore. I'll just blow through and wait for the bill ... if it even comes.

As long as you have your bike registered to the Pass, even if it fails to read it, Your home state will just deduct from your account and other states will send you a bill for the toll asking you to send back their form with the pass number. So make sure the bike is registered online to the box and don't even worry about carrying it.

the automatic toll sensors use the magnetic loop in the pavement.
when I was on the sporty it would never pick up the bike, so stopped carrying the ez pass box with it. down side was I could not use the automatic gates.
I find that if you are not dead center of the lane on the rocket, the loops do not get a good magnetic reading on the bike, or I should say bikes. girlfriend and me ride thru side by side, it does not regester either of us, and that with her on the harley.
and yep, we did the slowed down speed to boot.

dont worry about it. as long you register your bike on your account you will be fine. i did tht since 2006 and never receive any letter from i-pass.

those hard mounts must be pretty expensive, huh?
