Mine is at 6,700 on the original tires. I'll be at 7k by the end of the week. I guess I'll keep a good eye on the rear tire!

I could not agree more. One day mine looked a ittle worn and the next ride it was shot. By the time I made the 40 mile ride to the dealer it was completely bald.

If I take a picture of my palm, could you give me my life story too?
Just joking. You are pretty much correct as to your conservative assessment of my riding style.
I ride for the sheer pleasure of riding, not speeding. I have too much to live for.
Maybe with less front pressure, that tire would have lasted longer.
I know my last ride before winter storage, I was really having a hard time controlling my cornering lines.
I should not have waited so long to change it.

You'd be surprised what tire wear can tell you.

The high pressure is why the center lasted so much longer than the shoulders, however, that tire would've been dead at any pressure at the same or similar mileage. You've worn the off-center portion before the center, meaning, it died from cornering. The abnormal shape and type of wear is just a brand/model thing.

It's not overheating, so you can lower pressure some safely, it's also not cupping to horribly on the leading or trailing edges, definitely have room to come down some.

The G852 that comes on the M109 is a trash tire as well, the Emax will last longer. They look the same and mostly feel the same to ride, just, the G852 is an OEM piece of trash and the Emax is the G852, built correctly. I've run both.

Had a front Metzler delaminated on me on my way to Tasmania in the wet on a an old Roadstar, it held the air pressure and I lowered it a tad but talk about slippery as all hell, had 400klms to finish line at the Ferry and only 6 hours to get there, we made it with half an hour to spare. Upon removal of the tyre the bike shop took me out back and showed it to me, I could almost see my finger print through the tyre, the inside of the tyre had desintergrated almost and no one has no idea how the hell it retained its pressure.

Took fotos of the tyre as it only had about 7000klms and being a front one I was going to have someones throat..... was told by tyre shop he would not have riden (Bris to Melb) on a tyre with 7K and I was a DH...... he was so dam rude ya can guess what happened he copped a couple of broken glass panels in his display cases and have never returned to that shop and have turned everyone away from him, although his own attitude helped a lot think he went broke and shut up shop.

That’s my front tire and I regularly keep 40 psi. I have a tourer and I ride easy.
The back tire is just as bad.
I’m gonna go with Avon when I get to ordering them.

Eric , you should try Michelin Commander 11’s if you want mileage.
16000 km still 4mm total tread on rear R3T. I’ve managed 20k rear on Harley Fat Boy rear. Otherwise go dark side

Jeffro, that would have been my first choice, but I didn’t think they made them in the stock r3t size.
I had them on my last bike, which was a vn 1700 Nomad, and they were terrific.

Well just replacing the Metzler rear got 12,000 k's of fairly hard riding on it especially right handers. Putting a Excedra max on now see what all the talk is about.

I don't think you will find many on here who have anything good to say about Metzelers. Personally, I hate them and they were removed with only 300 miles on them! Surprised you got the mileage you did...thats def not the norm.

ITS funny we run a rear METZ at the dragstrip doing 8 second 1/4 mile times they work great

I never had a problem with the metz I do trust the excedra more in the rain but was happy with the metz, one thing I have learned over the years tyres are shamefully ignored by motorbike owners -- I check my tyres on all my bikes once a week I doubt if many can say that.
