METZELER Cruisetec - Never Again!

never had any problems with cruisetec tires, a lot better in terms of grip, stopping power, wear and feedback than the Avon’s.
What I do know is that generally speaking rocket owners based on spec from the tire OEM run too high tire pressures. cold pressure on my tires is around 33 psi and 37 in winter for context…
tire pressure and suspension setup done wrong will destroy any tire quickly.
I can honestly recommend the cruisetec rubber fir the rocket
best wishes all
Whatever has happened to the factory recommenced 42/42 lbs tire pressure?? Are we better than the engineers that built these bikes?
I've respected the factory recommendation and have had no issues! JMHO

I have lowered both tires pressure to 2.4 Bar and not running the higher factory setting. The Rocket just feels better overall. Looking at Protonhound's tire it seems the road camber is really a lot to the right? Also factor in that 5mm off-set Triumph "built" into the bike. Where have you ever heard of something like that? Over here tires for the Rocket 3 seems to be problematic also . Why a 16" rear and not a 17" where one can pick and choose as you wish? My front Avon should be good for about 10 000+ km and the rear Metzeler about 8 000+ km. Regards!

I’ve enjoyed the thread, thanks. I’ll be needing tire soon for the R3 so I will decide and I appreciate the experience of the posters. I’ve only been on the Cobras and I like them running the factory recommendations. Stiff ride but good wear and traction. I do believe less pressure would be a more comfortable ride but cost me in wear and max performance.

Btw I keep my tire pressures at 38psi.
Still relevant info, that’s where I run mine. Much less chatter in dicey curves (washboard/irregularities) and more comfortable. Additionally, I am a stout individual at 250 lbs. A lighter person? I say try it. You might be surprised. Cold/hot weather can really change tire air pressure. I check mine before every ride.

Not sure what happened with your quote but I never stated pressures or my weight.?

I’ve 2009 Classic, since Cobra Chromes became virtually unobtainable, I’ve ran on Metzler Cruisetec. I’ve ran them on standard factory tyre pressures 38/42. Only done around 4,000 miles on them both, mostly with the wife and she’s noticed they seem to be a bit noisier.
So far I’m pleased, in my opinion the grip is good, but not as predictable as Cobras. They do seem to take longer to warm up, especially in the wet. Which makes them to me a bit nervous when cold.
If Cobras become readily available again, I’ll be straight back on them.
