METZELER Cruisetec - Never Again!

I have never tried the dark side on my R3?but did so on a Boss Hoss I owned for 10 years.
It was just terrible and I removed it after less than a month of riding.

So I decided to take one for the team and ordered the 150/80R-17 (72H) Dunlop Elite 4 from Amazon which I'll have Friday and then I can take my wheel to the shop for mounting.
It'll have a harder compounds overall but so obviously do the chromes.

I think I responded to this question in another thread, so this may be a duplicate....

I ran the Elite on the front of my '11 Roadster and just a month ago, or so, installed one on my 3R. Based on my experience with the Roadster, they are great tires and, so far, the performance on the 3R has been excellent. Hope you like it too.

Indeed, your Metzeler seems to have a small problem... When I rode my Rocket 3R, it had Cobra Chrome tires, and I found them very well-suited to that motorcycle. Unfortunately, after a few thousand kilometers, the front tire wore unevenly, and since the rear was from the same era, I changed both tires to Cruisetecs. I wanted to get Avons again, but they were no longer manufactured. I must say that the Cruisetecs are very good, even though I find the look of the Avons more appealing, but, until proven otherwise, it's not the looks that determine road holding...

I never had a good experience with Metzeler and if that Dunlop Elite 4 works out then that'll be my go to though the chrome was awsome. I'm on my second Bridgestone ExedraMax on the rear which I am absolutely sticking with.

For your information, my Avon had exactly the same problem with uneven wear on the front tire as your Metzeler...so I think the issue comes from the Rocket and not really the tire itself...

never had any problems with cruisetec tires, a lot better in terms of grip, stopping power, wear and feedback than the Avon’s.
What I do know is that generally speaking rocket owners based on spec from the tire OEM run too high tire pressures. cold pressure on my tires is around 33 psi and 37 in winter for context…
tire pressure and suspension setup done wrong will destroy any tire quickly.
I can honestly recommend the cruisetec rubber fir the rocket

I completely agree with your analysis except for the Avon tires, which I found very good on the Rocket, even though, for the first time in my motorcycling life, I had to change them due to uneven wear on the front. Looking at the photo of Protonhound's Cruisetec, it confirms that, as I mentioned in another post, this wear is due to the motorcycle's design!

Regarding tire pressures, I've also lowered the manufacturer's recommendations, which are, in my opinion, completely ridiculous. I'm running 2.5 bar front and rear. I'm going to try going even lower like you, since summer is coming...
Note: I'd like to try the Bridgestone, but it's unavailable here...And what tire should I put on the front?

Put any radial you like on the front, I'd get another Avon if they were available bit that Dunlop ought to be decent.
