I just picked up the solo long haul seat with the long haul passenger section along with the back rest. Im a big guy, coming in at 350 lbs. I am finding that the seat now pushes me forward a bit, making it a bit harder to get my feet up on the floorboards. Part of that issue is the fact that I have a nice titanium right knee and the left one will be replaced next January. Im wondering if any of you big guys have had the same issue, being pushed forward. I really like this seat. Its real comfy but there are not too many options out there for the Tourer.

Ok, so I know that the weight thing is part of the problem but thats being addressed so I can have that left knee surgery so you can take that off your "suggestion" list.......:sneaky::rolleyes:

I'm certainly no lightweight, but haven't tried another seat but stock. The stock seat already tends to put quite a bit of pressure on the old crown jewels, not sure I want something that would push me further towards the tank.

Corbin makes seats for the R3T too http://www.corbin.com/triumph/tr38ts.shtml , in case you want to keep looking. And another option is http://www.day-long.com/ - take your old stock seat and send it there and have them build on top of the original seat pan. Neither of those options are entirely cheap.

I'd suggest going straight to the Russell. Otherwise you'll spend lesser amounts of money over and over. Having a seat custom made will beat an off the rack model every time. Especially true if you don't fit the off the rack size model.

I now have 2 stock seats and the long haul seat. The two stockers came from the PO. I may send one off to Utopia to see if he can mock up something. I just dont have the bucks or the cojones' to add that amount to a credit card for a Russell which my wife will see at some point and then ill be forced to live in someones garage far, far away. Besides I like the way the rider back rest matches the passenger back rest. 20 more lbs to drop and I should be ok in the seat. I already dropped 80. Another 100 to go. Thanks for letting me air out my frustrations. Nothing that a nice 6 pack of Angry Orchard and a pizza wouldnt cure....;)

I used to weigh 340 pounds. I've had three R3Ts. With the first one, I thought the stock seat would be pretty good, but it would get tiring after about 150 miles. I bought the long haul seat, and thought that would be good, but it would get tiring after about 200 miles. Then I sent the stock seat off to Russell and had it custom made for my weight and geometry.

The Russell seat took a little while to get used to, but in the end, it was a great seat. It would hold up for full day rides, just as Russell's name (Russell Day Long) implies.

When I traded that first R3T, I sold the Russell seat. Less than a year later I missed the R3T and replaced it. I went right to ebay, bought a stock seat, and sent it to Russell for modifications. Everything was great.

I recently traded that R3T for my current one, but I kept the seat. It's great.

I now weigh in under 200 pounds. The stock seat works very well for me, and I think that maybe even the bike feels a little sportier with the stock seat. But on a Day Long ride, even that Russell that was custom built to support my 340 pound As*, still holds up well.

Don't waste money on the Long Haul seat. It's not likely to be a solution. If you're having trouble with the stock seat, the prescription should be a Russell custom build.

Good for you on the weight. Put 25 lbs on the last two winters and can not be consistent enough on the tread mill,to get it off. Have to take an extra vicadin when on the treadmill, then I am short at the end of the month so I stay off the mill. Sucks, need more consistency.

Exercise is great for many reasons, but for weight loss the key is always what one eats. Keeping track of stuff with a program on a smartphone is a good way to get numbers on that. MyFitnessPal is free and works well, just plug in everything that one eats and drinks and get black and white numbers on it. But then you need to be consistent on the eating and the plugging the data into the app. :) It's not easy.

I started eating "clean" foods last summer and have dropped about 50 lbs but over the past 2 months I have reverted to my old slovenly ways. Time to get back on the stick so to speak. I need that surgery but not at this weight. I plan on keeping this Rocket for a long while and I want to be able to enjoy it for many years. Triking is not an option for me.
