Does anyone else notice these pipes have a raspy sound especially under heavy throttling?

Do they make different baffles, has anyone ran without 'em, or modified 'em to get more throught and less resonance?

Maybe I've been used to the deep sounds of V-Twins too long. Would like to change there frequency/note a little.

Thanks
Gary

gldean...........................when did you get them...............Jardines supposedly changed the baffles a tad recently............I think mine are the new ones...............although that could be BS and you might have to buy the new baffles separately...........................however I had my dealer call them (he is top notch and not given to lying) and he was told...............mine would be the new baffles ( a little more quiet)..................I notice a little raspiness.........especially at higher RPM's.................I don't think they will ever sound like those HD pipes.........different animal..............but in Leesburg......I did get some nice looks from the HD crowd.................well.........the ones that would look anyway

no to be a smart a$s.................you of course already know............but if you have anything loose...........it will cause some wierd vibrations also.

humble,

I'm not sure . . . they aren't terrible, and have a nice deep rumbling idle sound. Just has a strange resonance at speeds 35-50mph. Maybe the highway will be less . . . don't know.

Need to ride it more. Most of it is as higher RPM's and I know it'll never sound like a HD . . . that would sound funny. A 3-Cylinder Potatoe masher. :p

The Jars do have a roar all their own...the kind of sound the fart tube'ed Civic drivers dream off...

That being said, there is some resonance and grumbling made by the system, tempered by a GOOD dyno tune...

That's what it reminds me of . . . A huge coffee canned 4 banger or V-6 import . . . bwwahahahahaha .. . you're too funny dude.

We'll see how she sounds when I get my TuneBoy tomorrow and Dyno it next week. It's growing on me . . . just not used to sport bike sounds . . . especially one that's as unique and loud as the Rocket when you grab a handful of it's BALLS!

DAVE & HUMBLE ,

I have heard both your bike .... dave yours were new @ sebring
but I remember .. was impressed ... can only imagine it has gotten
louder over time & use .... HUMBLE'S jardines ( new) sounded just like yours but a few levels down on quietness . That was my first thought
when he fire his bike up .... thats only pair of jardines I've heard , so
far .

that tells me..........my dealer is still batting 1000 with me...............thanks Drag.

I'm hoping I can get a good recording of mine when I put it on the dyno.

I plan to use a Canon GL2 DV Video Camera and Hook a couple of SM57's or SM81's into the mike inputs and put'em close enough on both sides to get a good clean recording. The camera allows me to control the input volume and a good wind screen over the mikes should help eliminate unwanted air noises. We'll see.

Will also be taking some good still shots for reference. I only wanna do this once.

Can't believe no one has actually captured the Jardines sound. All the clips we've heard don't do 'em justice.

Course . . . a lot will depend on what you play the clips back on as well.

Took it out for another spin downtown and around a bit.

Mostly slow cruising in the 35-50mph range.

Starting to grow on me . . . have to unlearn all that loud V-Twin my ears have been accustomed to for so long.

Gotta keep telling myself this is a horse of a different color, breed and size.

Can't wait to see what happens after it's tuned right.

gldean ,
I was browsing a forum
reading info a thread said foam , wind socks etc etc
really were meant to just keep small to medium wind noisy
down not 100 + mph wind noise so video suck ,
to get no wind noises .
the best way is to use black electrical tape over mic keeps
all wind noise out but lets sound through .

just a bit of info you might try sometime
