Ride
'13 Rocket III Roadster
I was in Lafayette, La this weekend with some friends and met a guy I thought I would tell you about. Hank rode down from southern Ohio on his '15 Goldwing trike. He told me how it was a far cry from his '47 HD as far as comfort but didn't have nearly the charecter so when it had 3 miles on it him and a buddy disassembled it and painted it metallic concord purple to add a little style. Hank is much what you would expect from a biker...a little brash, two earings in his left ear, long beard with ponytail holders in it and somewhat "casually" dressed considering we were in a relatively nice restaraunt drinking 25 year old scotch. What really struck me was that Hank recently celebrated his 92nd birthday. 92 years old and still getting it done. Hats off Hank...long may you ride

About a year or two ago went on a toy run in Eufaula Oklahoma. Small run only about 50 bikes. This old Guy and for me to call someone old there old. Well this guy walked up using a cane and started to ask questions about the Rocket. He knew that Rockets existed but had never seen one. He was pretty well informed about the Rocket and very impressed with the Rocket X. The run was about to get started and I watched this old guy Place his cane on a Harley Fatboy in two closed holders along the side of the bike. I almost #hit. He started his bike and rolled up beside me and asked if it was ok to ride the run beside me. I ended up buying him lunch after the run. Very seldom do I run across someone who rides as much as I do but this old fart had 120,000 miles on his 2011 Harley Fatboy. I explained to him during lunch that I to owned a Fatboy, which really surprised him. Never did ask how old he was out of respect but did tell him that I hope like hell when I am your age am still riding. He looked at me kind of funny and responded with "I WAS NOT AWARE THAT THERE WAS AN AGE LIMIT WHEN IT CAME TO RIDING' Will never forget that day.:cool::cool::cool::cool::cool::cool::cool::cool::cool::cool::cool::cool:

brought a tear to my Eye as it reminds me of a deceased mate, I was asked by a Ol' mates wife to speak at his funeral, we used to ride everywhere together at 86 he was one of few that would say I trusted to ride closed quarters with HE COULD RIDE!!! he would leave many rider half his age well behind, my nick name I gave him and every one ended up calling him was"Young Dougy" he used to say he felt 18 again when on the bike (and acted that way too) it is a wonder we never lost our licences as we never went anywhere near the speed limit in the end our trips started to get shorter as I could see he would start to get tired. He rode till 6 weeks before he passed away after his old ticker finally wore out ... hell I miss him :(
