I have a friend who gave me quite a bit of static about buying a Triumph R3T rather than a Harley Road King. I let him ride my bike the other day, when he came back from the little ride down the road his eyes were wide. He said he couldn't believe the power and was very impressed with the brakes. I told him I had decided Harleys were to look at in the parking lot, Triumphs were to look at going bye.:D

Glad you found out and welcome to the site. Don't be too hard on the Harley's they are good at what they do unless you want torque and HP in the same combo. Good thing your friend didn't ride the Standard or Classic.

Most HD riders are fine with Triumph. It's the rice burners (their terminology, not mine) they wouldn't piss on if one were on fire.

Harley only

Yes I used to get allot of crap from some Harley only guys, that I rode with over my Vulcan. There are some Firefighter groups that are Harley only, I could not ride with on the Kawa. I have found everyone receptive to the Rocket III so far. It never bothered me, free choice is cool, I would not want a VW in a corvette club, but I find triumph is well tolerated with everyone and if not they can kiss my A**.

Food for thought

I like Harleys but everyone has one and I own two awesome Triumphs for what I would have in one decent HD. Also, this Rocket I bought would more than blow the mirrors off of any stock HD I am aware of. Someday, when I grow up, I might buy an HD but for now me and my two Triumphs will ride with anyone, regardless of their make. The other thing I have noticed while riding my 2002 America is that I can be riding with goldwings, Harleys, or anything else that is worth 4 times as much, and people come over to me and talk to me about my Triumph. I have had great conversations with great people who all want to know about my bike and tell me about the Triumph they owned in the 60s, 70s, or 80s. I can't wait to visit with people in far away fuel stops and gas stations when they see my Rocket and want to know about it. Especially when they want to know what size it is. I haven't seen too many around these parts so I figure you guys are a rare breed..........at least for now!

2 months after purchasing mine - I got the little woman her Sporty 1200 Low so we are a two bike family. Buddies I ride with have everything from Softail to Road King Screaming Eagle to big Kaws. When we ride or stop - all eyes are on the Rocket. When another Triumph pulls in where we are stopped - we have a rally!

Only buddy I trust with the horsepower (Wing/Couch rider) got pulled over in Nevada for riding without a helmet after 2 miles. Otherwise - no one asks and I haven't offered.

All my harley buddies have rode my Rocket.
All were impressed.
They still love their h-d's and I still prefer my Rocket (or the wifes).
Wouldn't trade either one for a new harley,
not if I had to ride it.
If I could sell it, then sure I'd swap,
sell it and buy a new roadster.;)
