A couple of weeks ago I noticed that "the beast" was blowing very slightly

from the top of the 1st header, so dutifully I grabbed ma spanner and

found that the rear nut was a little slack, tightened it a little and thought nothing of it.

then (coincidence????) shortly after she starts needing to be very warm before she'd idle properly

she still idles once warm but it takes a little while for her to settle...

any suggestions???

Cheers

Allan

Just for info purposes. Outside air will be sucked back into the header when loose at the flange. This will usually cause excessive popping during decell.

Any opinions on if the lean exhaust might cause the O2 sensor to lie to the computer, richen the mixture and f-- up the idle. (I know I would think richer would idle better). If this was an issue then could the 12 minute tune reset it? Not an opinion, just a dumb question.

have done the 12 minute tune, with no real difference :(

was just the coincidental nature of it that I was posting about really.

I'll just have to let her warm up better in future, it may be because the temp has dropped here in Bonnie Scotland, but am not sure at all.

have managed to "cure" my idle problem by fiddling with the throttle cable adjusters.

I noticed there was a fair bit of play in the throttle from the moment I got the bike, so never thought anything of it untill my idle problems started.

so, I took up the slack at the "+" throttle end, and let it all go at the "-"

this seemed to help a lot but the throttle was sticky, so after a bit of fiddling I got a nice balance and was out for a good blast today and no problems whatsoever right from the off.

dunno if this'll help anyone else, but always worth a look see before you go and rip her apart wi spanners or buy stuff ye dinna need.
