now that the big and brash rocket has been in production for 10 years, how many more years will they be crankin em out? i know, as long as people keep buying. but does anybody other than corporate triumph know the real numbers? like how many units sold annually, how many since day one? my guess is 40,000 or so total, means 4000 annually, just a guess. hope this model is still in production for a long time to come. at some point i will be needing another one!!...............scott

The Rocket has outlasted the Valkerie which was only in production 5 years (1998 to 2003). My understanding was Triumph was going for potential Valk customers with the Rocket, and they got them. I didn't think the Rocket would be produced as long as it has, and apparently there is no end in sight and why should there be, the Rocket is one of the greatest production bikes ever!

hello ugarte, youve got an early one looks like, how many miles on her and how solid has she been? i just might decide to ride the wheels off this one

I have 95 thousand miles on mine and it has been very reliable. Only significant problems have been the ignition switch, leaky oil tank "O" rings, and high idle due to a worn out TPS. However the original TPS lasted until this summer when I finally had to change it out. It has only been to the dealer for the 600 and 10000 mile checks and to change out the fork seals (twice), and I just brought the forks in for that.

hey ugarte, 95 k, not bad! you ride a hell of lot more than me. maybe you live where it is warm all the **** time you dog! does yours have the infamous chain rattle, or whatever the hell it is that causes that?

I don't ride that much any more, most of those miles were put on in the first 5 years of ownership. I have had the paint can rattle off and on since about 10k miles, but have not heard it in a while. Its usually a wintertime thing, but it has definitely lessened as the bike has put on more miles.

The word is that the Rocket will go out of production in 2014.

SPREAD THE WORD!

Just kidding. :p
The Bonneville has been around in its present incarnation for a LONG time. I would expect the R3 to be with us as long as it sells well.
